By the end of May, restaurants are open for limited dine-in and take-out service. Churches, schools and theme parks are still closed. People who can, work from home. Unemployment numbers are dismal. The government threw money at businesses and individuals, hoping people will spend to help businesses stay solvent.

By the end of the month, gyms and other businesses opened with capacity restrictions, sanitizing guidelines, social distancing rules and suggestions about wearing masks.

Two and a half months of constant Covid-19 conversation caused a split between people who wear masks and people who won’t.
No surprise really. I drove past a billboard urging people to “fasten their seatbelts“.
Seriously, if there’s still a need to remind people to protect themselves in their cars, after all these years (and making them pay fines), it’s going to take more than a couple of months to convince people that masks make any difference as a protection against catching the Coronavirus.
Personally, I’ve decided to wear a mask and practice social distancing. I say “practice” because it’s still new for everyone. For example, When I step away to create a “social distance” gap, people step towards me. So weird.


The game I call Demon Spotting developed over time as I worked through emotional entanglements and confusing break-ups. My misery became code words. Code words became mat drills. Mat drills became winning combinations. And my confusion lifted. Consider this your invitation to play. Clarity is freedom.
