The divide between people willing (or ordered) to wear face covering masks and those who refused to wear a mask grew more contentious as the Pandemic continued disrupting routines. Over two months into lockdown, people were bored, fed up and ready for restrictions to be lifted. The more outspoken took to twitter to voice their disgust for #sheeple and the #shamdemic and the #herd mentality.
Is wearing a mask submission or agreement?

President Trump prefers not to wear a mask. Would it make a difference if he did? He knows he’s negative because he is tested regularly.
For the rest of us, bare-faced is a gamble. You might be right. Only time will tell.

At least wearing a mask makes me feel like I’m helping or doing something. And I don’t think it’s the mask that’s making me feel sluggish and controlled. Not wearing it doesn’t remove that feeling for me. I feel exposed without the mask on.
Not knowing when the restrictions will end disturbs me. And worrying about what the “new normal” is going to look like keeps me on edge most of the time.
So, who wins in the tug-of-war between abundance of caution and abundance of bravado?
History will reveal that answer.

The game I call Demon Spotting developed over time as I worked through emotional entanglements and confusing break-ups. My misery became code words. Code words became mat drills. Mat drills became winning combinations. And my confusion lifted. Consider this your invitation to play. Clarity is freedom.
