Unlock the Randomizer: Reveal your 3 personal code words. (Instructions below.)
The first time you open the Randomizer, your three personal code words appear automatically.
That was your first spin. Don’t spin again!
Wait until you’ve fully digested the three words you received.
Maybe you’ll recognize the patterns at once.
If your first answer is familiar to you, then spin again to dig deeper.
Don’t dismiss the game because you think you already know everything about a person or a situation. Sometimes, the thing that’s hidden in your blind spot is hidden for a good reason.
ACTION STEPS: Just before you see your three code words, you’ll see instructions.
- Think of a situation that’s been troubling you.
- Look at your three code words. I call them cards because I do have a physical set of DramaGuru code word cards.
- Now, time for analysis! Where do you see these patterns at work?
Randomizer: Now that you have your 3 personal Code Words, what do you do with them?
When I get my three code words, first I look up the definitions.
A word or two is all I need for a description that describes how I’m feeling about a situation..
Example (from the image below):
- Sneaky Millie: played a trick, shamed me, made me look bad
- Baby Jane: created chaos, complete upheaval, ruins everything
- Rabbit: always on the run, unavailable, difficult to pin down
When you open the Randomizer page and your spin reveals these three code words, look out! There’s danger ahead.
But, this person is familiar to you. So, these words shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Their patterns are recognizable.
Here’s the short story line that I created from these three code words. Your story will be different based on what you’re dealing with.
STORY LINE: First time meeting his parents. He gives me the wrong place and the wrong time! Let me know later that he forgot his phone and couldn’t contact me. Sabotage!
Now that you have the pattern, and you can see that you’re not crazy or making things up, you can sit down with someone and decide (calmly) exactly what to do next. Is this something you want to put up with from a future husband? Only you can decide that.
Demon Spotting™ is designed to heal old wounds.
Get all the clues from the situation. Let it simmer.
Be nice to yourself. Don’t pick a super-difficult situation that makes you angry.
In the example above, if I change the context from “First time meeting his parents” to “Meeting him (or her) to pick up my kids”, then actual fistfights erupt. So, go easy.
Don’t sabotage your learning by making it too overwhelming to look at a situation.
When you heal, people around you heal too. That’s a worthy goal and a good reason to take time with your code words.
Practice forgiving. Surrender that situation to Holy Spirit. Release yourself from having to remember.
Allow Holy Spirit to meet you there. He whispers to you about this situation. Only you know what he means. And what he’s asking you to do.
Unlock The Randomizer: Find clues to who or what needs to be forgiven. This is the hard part.
Forgiving means whatever it means in the context of your situation.
- Doesn’t mean you have to trust them, unless you decide to do that.
- And it certainly doesn’t translate into making yourself spend time with them.
- It does mean you have to respect your boundaries… and theirs. That means stop gossiping about them. Stop repeating what they did. Everyone already knows. You’ve told the story often enough.
- Release yourself from the grip of holding the grievance against them. Look in another direction.
- All the time and energy you waste regurgitating your complaint, is time that could have been spent talking to Holy Spirit about your assignment.
- My assignment! What assignment? Since you don’t know, I rest my case. There’s only one person who can tell you that. The Holy Spirit.
Okay, enough reading. It’s time to unlock the Randomizer! I wonder what your code words will be.
